Nafplio Castle Run 2024

With an unforgettable combination of endurance, fun and epic views, the Nafplio Castle Run returns on Sunday 8 December in the historic city of Nafplio, in the eastern Peloponnese.

Organised by the municipality, the Nafplio Castle Run features three routes (3km, 5km and 10km) up to and by the Castle of Palamidi, the 18th-century Venetian fortress that stands 216m above Greece’s first modern capital.

The 5km route (for participants aged 18 and above) reaches the top of the fortress, while the 10km route (for participants aged 16 and above) commemorates the fall of Palamidi and the Nafplio's liberation from the Ottomans. The 3km run is aimed at high school students.

On the eve of the race, a torch relay will ascend Palamidi Castle and light an altar at the summit to inaugurate the event.
