The Dragonlake of mount Tymfi is the crown jewel of the Zagori area. Located at an altitude of two thousand meters and surrounded by jagged peaks is a place most visitors call unique. This daily trip will give you the chance to hike all the way to this magnificent place and admire views that will be imprinted in your memory for life. Besides the natural beauty, the alpine fields of mount Tymfi are well known for the unique wildflowers and herbs that blossom there depending on the season you visit the mountain.

Day plan
The path begins from the traditional village of Mikro Papingo and heads towards wooded area as it slowly ascends towards the ridge of the mountain where the alpine mountain hut of Astraka is located. The vistas along the way are breathtaking and natural springs are scattered along the way to clench our thirst. After three hours of hiking we reach the mountain hut where we stop for a light snack and some needed rest before we continue our way towards the Dragonlake which will take another hour of hiking until we reach it. A good rest and some exploring admiring the peaks of Astraka and Gamila with views to Smolikas and Grammos mountains to the north. We return to the hut for a hearty dinner and then we start our descent towards Mikro Papingo where we say our goodbyes.
